Assignment #1: Your Paragraph

1) Choose one topic from page 9.
2) Write a topic sentence for it.
3) Write three supporting sentences for it.
4) Write a full paragraph of at least 10 sentences. Use the paragraph on page 10 as a model.
5) Put it on your blog by May 5th, 2008.

Assignment #1: Ways I like to read

New technology makes reading a lot easier for me; I can read a variety of things anywhere, anytime. Although I live in Japan, I can read a lot of Canadian newspapers online. I can keep in touch with the news back home - especially hockey! I work all over Osaka and spend a lot of time on trains. I download e-books onto my mobile phone; I can carry a small library in my pocket! It's very convenient and cheap: the e-books I read are free. I also teach a writing class at Setsunan University. I enjoy reading my student's blogs and learning about their interests. None of my ways of reading would be possible without the Internet.

The Second Class

It's a beautiful day today; not too hot, not too cold. I like this weather the best.

Today we practiced brainstorming and telling the difference between general and specific information. Both of these skills are important for writing well.

Finally, for the last twenty minutes, we worked on our journals. I hope everyone is enjoying our class so far. I know I am!
